GengRide ("we", "us") is a motorcycle exploration & social platform for riders. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We follow Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) 2010.
What we collect
- Account details — your name, phone number and profile info (bio, avatar, the vehicles in your garage), used to sign you in and identify you to other riders.
- Location data — your GPS position, used for turn-by-turn navigation, to record your rides, and — during an active convoy — to share your live position with members of that ride only.
- Ride & route data — destinations, routes, Free Run recordings and the GPS-art / stats they produce, and your ride history.
- Content you create — posts, photos, places, hazard reports, reviews, ratings and comments you choose to submit. Who can see them depends on the privacy setting you choose (see below).
- Social connections — the riders you follow and the gengs you join.
- Device & usage data — app interactions and basic device information, used to keep the app reliable and improve it.
How we use it
- To deliver navigation, convoy rides, hazard alerts, discovery, your social feed, achievements and other features you use.
- To improve the service using aggregated and anonymised data — we do not build or sell individual profiles of your movements.
- To keep the community safe — screening media, moderating reported content, and enforcing our Community Guidelines.
Location & convoy sharing
Your live location is shared with other riders only during an active convoy you have joined, and stops when the ride ends. We do not broadcast your real-time location publicly or to riders outside your ride.
Your content & who can see it
You choose the visibility of what you share. Posts and rides can be public, geng-only (visible to your gengs), or private (only you). You can change these controls and block riders at any time; blocking is enforced across the app.
Photos & moderation
Photos are screened for sexual or explicit content before they are shown to others, both on your device and on our servers. Content that breaks our rules can be removed, and repeat or serious violations may affect your account. See our Community Guidelines.
Affiliate links
The Ride Gear section contains affiliate links. Tapping one opens a third-party store (e.g. Shopee) in your browser, and we may earn a commission. Those sites have their own privacy policies which govern any purchase.
Sharing & selling
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only as needed to run the service (e.g. with your convoy members as described above), with service providers who host and operate the app on our behalf, or where required by law.
Retention & your choices
- You can request deletion of your account and associated data from within the app (Settings → Account); this is permanent.
- You can block or report other riders and content at any time.
- You can control location permission through your device settings; note that navigation and ride recording require it.
Children
GengRide is intended for users aged 18 and above.
