GengRide ("we", "us") is a navigation and community app for riders. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We follow Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) 2010.
What we collect
- Account details — your name, phone number and profile info, used to sign you in and identify you to your riding group.
- Location data — your GPS position, used to provide turn-by-turn navigation and, during an active convoy, to share your live position with members of that ride only.
- Ride & route data — destinations, routes and ride history, used to power navigation, recent destinations and ride summaries.
- Community contributions — places, hazard reports, reviews and ratings you choose to submit.
- Device & usage data — app interactions and basic device information, used to keep the app reliable and improve it.
How we use it
- To deliver navigation, convoy rides, hazard alerts and discovery features.
- To improve the service using aggregated and anonymised data — we do not build or sell individual profiles of your movements.
- To keep the community safe (e.g. moderating reported content).
Location & convoy sharing
Your live location is shared with other riders only during an active convoy you have joined, and stops when the ride ends. We do not broadcast your real-time location publicly or to riders outside your ride.
Affiliate links
The Ride Gear section contains affiliate links. Tapping one opens a third-party store (e.g. Shopee) in your browser, and we may earn a commission. Those sites have their own privacy policies which govern any purchase.
Sharing & selling
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only as needed to run the service (e.g. with your convoy members as described above) or where required by law.
Retention & your choices
- You can request deletion of your account and associated data from within the app (Settings → Account).
- You can control location permission through your device settings; note that navigation requires it.
Children
GengRide is intended for users aged 18 and above.
